Ocimum tenuiflorum

 

Rama Holy Basil, or Tulsi is the most common variety, a member of the mint family it features green leaves, a purple stem and white/purple blossoms. Known for its cooling and mellow flavour it is often steeped on its own or blended into herbal infusions.

 

Commonly used as diaphorectic and its febrifuge properties provide assistance with colds, flus and lung problems. Can be used externally for fungal infections.

 

 

Actions: respiratory, nervine, digestive, diaphoretic, antispasmodic, antibacterial, antiseptic.
